In the beginning, Jung was concerned that his thoughts were predicting the beginning of a psychosis. But on later representation and world activities, he thought they certainly were warning him in regards to the approaching world conflict, which began in May of 1914. Immediately after these troubling pictures, Jung identified going through a time of deep turmoil and self-reflection, wanting to find a method through the landscape of his own dreams, his fantasies, and their connection to his life, to his work, and to political and cultural activities unfolding for the duration of Europe. In his autobiography he wrote: "I was living in a continuing state of anxiety; often I felt like massive prevents of stone were tumbling down upon me. One thunderstorm used another." **
First we have to position Jung's visions in to the context of his living at the time. Jung was in a turbulent transition; he was leaving the "standard earth" of Freud's psychology and striking out on his own, beginning to enter the forest where there obviously was number path. He was going into the unknown and into his traditional life, and he then gets the visions. Next we must envision the photos and the geography in his vision as the floor of his psyche, the landscape of his living at that time. And, following Jung's well-known admonition to "leave your concepts at the door," we can do our most useful to permit the images to talk for themselves. If you're to imagine being the "massive ton," you're an elemental, powerful, unstoppable, normal power that some serious cataclysmic function has generated a shock trend, a spiritual tsunami, moving up out and within the land. The ideological walls of tradition can not keep back or contain that aroused sea. From an alchemical perspective, the waters reduce Jung's former life so that a new being, an actually more traditional Jung may emerge. For Jung, lots of Freud's constructs about the unconscious and desires, the structures that had covered Freudian psychology were collapsing. Today the ton begins to sense similar to Jung's innovative life and all that it included hitting theaters, liberated from the restrictions of Freud's psychology--opening the ton gates of his potential.
